Ultimate Guide to Better Your Chances of Getting Re-Monetized on YouTube

Have you been the victim of channel de-monetization on YouTube? Have you lost revenue due to the process? Fear not, as we have the ultimate guide to get your channel back into compliance.

Whatever your channel has been de-monetized for, you have the chance to get back in, as your channel is not banned, and you still get to keep the subscribers you have!  Trust me they will thank you for changing things later!

Steps to Fix Your Channel

Below we take a look at how you can change certain things on your channel to bring it back into compliance with YouTube's content TOS.

Step 1: Update Your Channel Banner and icon.

So, the first thing you are going to need to do is to create a logo, and a brand banner for your channel.

These are displayed at the top of your channel page, and give YouTube a better idea of what your channel is about, and gives them proof that you are taking the time to make your channel look right.

Channel banners can also include a website address, and/or logo along with social media names, or even your picture!

Step 2: Remove All Content ID Claimed Videos.

Content ID is much less serious when it comes to copyright on YouTube, and strikes are more serious... but Content ID claims can also go against you.

If you have any content ID claims in your account then you need to remove these to either avoid being de-monetized, or get back into the YouTube Partner Program.

Furthermore, content ID claims mean that somewhere in a video you have uploaded you have what can be considered "reused content," and it could lead to automatic demonetization... remove those videos NOW!

Step 3: Remove any videos with just music and pictures.

If you have video compilations with just plain music over the top of them, well this is another big NO NO, as the algorithm is now removing channels that feature mainly this content.

Another policy that they are no-longer monetizing is videos with "ROBOT" voices over the top of them, such as Microsoft Sam.

You must also now provide commentary over gaming videos with a human voice, so just playing the game, and uploading the footage with no voice is not enough!

Step 4: Update your video descriptions to represent the content in the video.

This step is very important, as the review team will look at your video descriptions to make sure they are up-to-date.

Several things you can do are to make sure to detail, at length, what the video is about. Other things you can list in this section are social media links, equipment you use, sources, content guarantee, privacy policy, and disclaimers.

Step 5: Update your channel description, and tags to actively describe your content.

Channel descriptions, and tags are different from videos, these actively describe what your channel is about, and help viewers find it on the platform.

Several things can be used in the about section, and these include telling viewers how you create content, why you create the content, where it is published elsewhere after going on YouTube, and generally what your channel is all about.

Step 6: Create a Introduction Video For Your Channel.

Almost always called a "channel trainer," this video should be around one minute long, and feature exactly what your channel is about, and also have your face at the beginning.

The channel trailer allows new subscribers coming into your channel to better decide if they are going to join your channel, and also helps YouTube reviewers better decide if your channel is legitimate.

This can be set directly from the channel dashboard by clicking the "customize your channel" blue box at the start.

Step 7: Remove any re-uploaded content you may have used in your videos from other YouTubers.

Similar to content ID, but without the content ID part... the algorithm will now find this content, and the channel will get flagged for demonetization, but remember that a review from a human is always carried out.

Still... it's probably best to remove any content from any other video on the site.

Another problem facing many is those using music from NCS... this is a channel that lets others use their music in their videos.

One thing you can try is to implement a link to their usage policy in your description, as this goes into detail on their website about how others can use their songs.

Step 8: Check all thumbnails for copyright pictures, and update them.

Another very important topic is thumbnails... if they look the same, or similar, then you will need to update them, change the backgrounds on each one, etc!

Try to make sure the thumbnails are HD, look different from the previous ones, and reflect exactly what's in the video!

Also, make sure your thumbnails don't contain anything from anyone else's thumbnails, as you could get pulled for that too!

Step 9: Link to Youtube from your website (if you have one) where the content MUST be published.

If your work is written by you, the best way to prove to YouTube that you own the content is to publish it on your website, and link to it from each video, and your channel.

Linking to your site from your channel is much more complicated, and requires HTTP, or dashboard FTP access, but you can link to each video/article from your video dashboard too!

We wish you luck!

Good luck on avoiding demonetization, or bringing your channel back into compliance!
