We've seen some truly memorable superheroes over the past few years, what with the Dark Knight series, which started with Batman Begins, the X-Men series, and who could forget the now astoundingly huge Marvel Cinematic Universe, boasting such heroes as Iron Man, Captain America, and now even Doctor Strange. Whether adapted from the comic books of old, or rejuvenated for a new on-screen image, we've witnessed some amazing powers over the years, but what about the trinkets?

Often overlooked or under appreciated, superhero gadgets like the ones listed below don't receive the same love or devotion that superpowers themselves do so often. No, you see, for some of our most beloved heroes they wouldn't, or sometimes couldn't, be who they are today without their trusty utility belts, web shooters, shiny lassos, and unbreakable shields. This is for heroes that tend to get forgotten or, more or less, ignored for their most trustworthy of contraptions. Whether it be an elongated pole, fire retardant clothes, or a super intelligent machine, these are the coolest superhero gadgets used in movies.

Exoskeleton (Iron Man)

Everyone knows Tony Stark, but the billionaire playboy wouldn't be the same without his trusty piece of self-invented armor, which he calls Iron Man. With rocket boosters on his feet and hands, plus interior weaponized artillery, from shoulder and wrist rockets to laser beams in his palms and chest, Stark's exoskeleton also comes with a highly intelligent super computer that gives him the rundown of necessary data needed to control his exoskeleton for tip top performance.

His suit is also made from Adamantium, which is the world's strongest known form of steel, certainly making for one of the coolest superhero gadgets used in movies, but is it one of the best? Probably not, despite the fact that he can lift practically anything and do pretty much whatever he wants, including underwater research, singlehandedly destroying Middle Eastern terrorist cells, and even send nukes into alien spacecraft! It could even technically be among clever gadgets that clean your house for you, that is only if Jarvis thinks it necessary.

Utility Belt (Batman)

While his armor, helmet, and cape all might be some of the coolest superhero gadgets used in movies, and we haven't even gone over his Batmobile, there's still one piece among batman gadgets that truly takes the cake and tops them all. Seemingly used the most in terms of movies and TV shows, Batman's utility belt helps him in the trickiest spots, from deploying batarangs, to signaling a family of bats as backup.

Since he has no real superpowers other than extraordinary wealth and an unknown amount of free time to kill, Batman's long list of inventions have always made him one of the most feared of all heroes. Whether in a tight spot, or simply in the neighborhood for some Gotham night fun, his utility belt proves to hold a certain quality unmatched by Batman's previous gadgetry, and makes 007 look like a small child playing with fidget spinners.

Web Shooters (Spider-Man)

"With great power comes great responsibility."

That's the old-adage superhero statement, which now tends to get overused in popular movies and even TV shows. One can't help but give praise to where it all started though, which is with Spider-Man. Many are asking how faithful Spider-Man: Homecoming is to the original comics, but it isn't a secret: Tobey McGuire's version doesn't compare to Tom Holland's new superhero, which actually utilizes the comic's famed web shooters, unlike previous entries.

There's much to say about these impressive pieces of superhero gadgetry. Peter Parker made them himself so he'd be able to swing from buildings like a spider, just the same as he can crawl along walls. Web shooters wouldn't be web shooters if they couldn't actually shoot any number of varied web contraptions, from balls and string, to literal webs and projectiles. It would be a blast to use one of the coolest superhero gadgets used in movies—but then again, that's a lot of responsibility.

Pym Particle (Ant-Man)

Seen most adeptly in Captain America: Civil War, Ant-Man's Pym Particles, which allow him to both decrease and increase in size, are one of the coolest superhero gadgets used in movies. Becoming the size of an atom or growing to the size of a building are both viable with the Pym Particles, but there's a catch: you could fall into oblivion if used incorrectly.

While it may be the coolest gadget, it may very well be one of the most dangerous, if not terrifying, of the sort. Witnessed in the end of Ant-Man, Scott Lang falls into an unknown abyss of atomized foreverness, which he does so in order to save his family. Given these repercussions, I think I'd much rather have those web shooters instead.

Red Wing (Falcon)

Everyone wants to fly, but when it comes to superheroes, there's an unruly long list of possibilities for flight. Whether it be thanks to a cape or an exoskeleton, it's not an uncommon feat. Very few forms of gadgetry allow for one to fly like a bird or (could it be?) a falcon, which this superhero utilizes in no particular fashion. It's his calling card, for which the Falcon employs without restraint: his trusty metal wings, which can be used as shields in the event of a shootout, are truly remarkable.

Witnessed in the superhero packed Civil War, Captain America's third standalone movie (despite the fact that practically every hero's in it), Falcon uses his little remote control drone the most. Calling it Red Wing, Falcon's undoubtedly got one of the coolest superhero gadgets used in movies.

Arnim Zola (Swiss HYDRA Agent)

Wouldn't it be awesome to download your entire consciousness onto a retro-style computer and leave yourself dormant until the far future? Sounds almost like something from a comic book, which it is in actuality, thanks to the demonic intentions led by the Swiss Hydra Agent known as Arnim Zola, who inserts his entire being onto several reels of tape and is thence only capable of living through a highly superior form of computer, which is kept locked under a Russian missile silo.

Yes, sounds great up until someone unintentionally unplugs you. As far as the coolest superhero gadgets used in movies go, I'd have to say this one is by far the most interesting, if not brazen of all choices. Having yourself downloaded onto a supercomputer for over three decades sounds a little unnerving—I mean, how do you eat or sleep?

Shield (Captain America)

His calling card amounts to nothing but a metallic piece of armor painted in the likeness of his suit and namesake, but that doesn't mean it's at all useless or disappointing. As a matter of fact, Captain America's shield is one of the coolest superhero gadgets used in movies, one because it can't be destroyed (no matter how hard you try), and two, because the ole Cap just wouldn't be the same without it.

In addition to serving as one of the most unbreakable forms of superhero gadgetry, since it's made from reverse engineered adamantium combined with vibranium steel, Captain America's shield can also bounce off walls, sometimes even people, and return to his wrist as if it had never left. In Civil War, Spider-Man himself even states:

"That thing does not obey the laws of physics at all!"

Digital Ghost (Jor-El)

Though he may not be around to see his son grow to become one of earth's most valiant protectors, Jor-El is never forgotten thanks to the hologram upload for which gives him an unintelligible length of life. Viewed in Man of Steel, Jor-El's lifelike digital recreation serves as a sort of beacon for Superman to learn and adapt from, despite the fact that he's been long dead on Krypton for who knows how long.

Thanks to Jor-El, we get to see one of Krypton's most superior forms of technology on the scout-ship that Clark Kent used to land on earth. If it were up to me, which thankfully it isn't, I'd sure as hell leave myself behind to be digitally recreated as a holographic ghost, but there's no chance I'd ever become one of the coolest superhero gadgets used in movies.

Vibranium Suit (Black Panther)

Yes, yes, Iron Man does have one of the MCU's most cherished and—dare I say it—coolest suits to ever reach the silver screen, there's still the unmistakable addition of Black Panther, which uses one of the slickest attires in the entire series. His cat claw wielding vibranium suit can withstand anything from an up close and personal explosive, to even high powered .50 caliber bullets.

Rocking this badass suit to the prom would inevitably make you the most untouchable student on the dance floor, but it's not meant for parties. It's obviously among the coolest superhero gadgets used in movies, so don't miss this year's upcoming MCU blockbuster Black Panther, which hits theaters on February 10.

Cerebro (Professor X)

Charles Xavier may be one of the smartest and most powerful psychics in the world, but he needs an even more powerful device to amplify his mind's reach. For its exceedingly immense processing power, in addition to the various ways it can be used, Cerebro is one of the coolest superhero gadgets used in movies.

The machine was actually most recently destroyed in X-Men: Apocalypse, thanks to the hacking capabilities led by Apocalypse himself, for which Havoc stopped by literally tearing the computer to pieces with his super powers. Cerebro can be utilized in a host of fashions, from finding fellow mutants across the globe to literally destroying parts of the earth at will, but it sheds it's most immensely dangerous capabilities when attached to Professor Xavier.

Trick Arrows (Hawkeye/Green Arrow)

Archery may not be one of the sexiest sports around, but when applied by the likes of Green Arrow or Hawkeye, it surely becomes something of an otherworldly sport, rather than an ancient past time. Likened for the modern world, these superheroes have engineered some interesting uses for their arrows, from grappling hooks and smoke grenades, to electrical netting and even hacking devices.

One scene from the comics has Green Arrow utilizing a nuclear warhead arrow, totally annihilating some massive enemy that had destroyed the Justice League's lair. Hawkeye even has some cool electromagnetic arrowheads, which do some hefty damage to the floating aircraft carrier in Avengers. So, it's safe to say that these super arrows are some of the coolest superhero gadgets used in the movies today.
